Welcome! My name is John Costa and I am the founder of “The Modern & Antique Upholstery Specialist”. I knew from about the age of 13 that I would be a restorer. Interesting? Looking back I always had an appreciation and genuine interest in the beauty of natural timber, and how it could be transformed into something quite artlike and also have purpose.
I was also very receptive to colour and textiles and how they had a grand influence on the area in which they were placed.
Beautiful products are made from many different types of timber and equally from textiles. The almagamation of the two are a lovely marriage.
The addition of brass, copper, gold, silver, chroming and various paint finishes allowed the extension of variety in highlighting, and personalising the real beauty and presence of furniture in the everyday home.
